The future of work shaped by Technology and our responsiveness to change
Join us in Johannesburg
Technology has created tools that humans never expected before. The economy of labour was substituted by economy of capital, and recently by the knowledge economy. Knowledge is about skills (hard and soft), entrepreneurship, and innovation. Talented and skilled people are gaining a further competitive advantage through the use of technology: labour advantage, greater productivity and welfare benefits.
Intensive technology driven companies are becoming so powerful that “society” has started claiming for anti-trust measurements, and fair taxing where value is created. Tech innovation disruptors (e.g. unicorn firms) are challenging the new vs old jobs rhythms. Robots are deployed to be workers albeit substitutive today, however in future will compliment human workers for better work efficiency and economics. The nature of work will be different and will require a new set of skills, but work will remain for the greater population as a main source of welfare.
How do we build the future of work to be fully employed, environmentally sustainable, and help to distribute wealth?
