Join us for an engaging discussion on “How to (better) present yourself to the world”, where Professor Agüera will explore how self-perception is formed, how we can actively shape the way others perceive us, and how these insights translate from real-life conversations to our online presence, emails, and social media interactions.
Professor Biography
Javier Agüera is an inventor and social entrepreneur with a deep passion for humane technology design. He is the CEO of Pandora's Way, a social venture that creates tools to support a healthier transition into adolescence for today's digital era. At age 16 he co-founded Geeksphone, the first European smartphone maker to introduce Android in 2009 and later the first worldwide to launch FirefoxOS. Its spin-off, Blackphone, was named a TIME Invention of the Year for pioneering privacy-by-design in the mobile industry and introducing features present today in everyone's pockets. He’s also launched ventures aiming to protect journalistic integrity, improve dream and sleep quality, and enable edge AI and cybersecurity in critical industrial IoT applications. He's a former Fellow at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center and Sesame Workshop, and received an MS in Integrated Design, Engineering and Management from MIT. He is an Adjunct Professor at IE New York College, where he teaches the core "Analytics, Problem Solving and Decision Making" graduate course. Beyond product design, Javier is passionate about producing experimental music and immersive art experiences.

Javier Agüera is an inventor and social entrepreneur focused on humane technology. CEO of Pandora’s Way, he builds tools for healthier digital adolescence. A teenage co-founder of Geeksphone and creator of Blackphone (TIME Invention of the Year), he’s led ventures in privacy, journalism, sleep, and AI. MIT-educated, former Harvard fellow, IE NY adjunct professor, and experimental artist.
