4th session - IE Academy online: Are presentations useful anymore? - Engaging your audience with powerful presentations

IE is one of the leading European higher education institutions, whose belief in innovation, diversity with more than (92% of international students) and entrepreneurship is an integral part of its drive towards academic excellence. Our learning model puts students at the centre, is eminently practical and ensures that they acquire not only the technical know-how but also the mind-set and interpersonal skills that are essential for a successful future leader. With its centrally located Madrid campus, international student community, and dynamic learning environment, IE is the perfect place to develop your career.

Steve Bezos banned presentations in meetings. Why?

30 million presentations are delivered everyday worldwide but most of them fail to connect with their audience. This is because they don’t speak the same language that your audience’s brain does.

Presentations are commonly used in internal and external communication and becoming an expert delivering presentations that persuade and convince your audience is a must-have skill a lot of recruiters and managers seek in new candidates.

In this Masterclass you will learn why current presentation techniques, inherited from the past, don’t work in today’s frenetic business world. You will learn the trends and techniques to apply in your next presentation to engage and persuade your audience like never before.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:JAVIER CHICO

Javier is IE Professor, serial entrepreneur and Director of the Strategic Pitching department at CBRE (#1 Real Estate consultancy firm) defining the strategy, preparation and delivery of strategic sales pitches with millions of euros at stake.

But above all, he is crazy about presentations, design and visual communication in all shape and forms, and public speaking.

He has spent the last 10 years training professionals of all sectors on how to deliver presentations that make a difference, are memorable, impact their audience minds and wow the audience. His methodology uses analog brainstorming, modern design principles, neuromarketing techniques and visual communication. He uses the science behind how the brain works to boost how your audience receives messages through a presentation delivery.

Javier has performed thousands of presentations in sales, marketing and project management environments as well as conferences and pitches at various events. He has trained more than 3000 professionals from top companies in Spain and Europe like Philips, DGP, Técnicas Reunidas, Aena, Aegon, Evo Banco, Vass or Prosegur, helping them become productive and effective communicators when using presentations, live speeches in public speaking or in relation with media.

As a entrepreneur he founded 2 tech startups based in visual communication and video streaming for B2B environments (VisualBox & StreamGPS) with clients like Sony, Leroy Merlin, RTVE or The Red Cross and reaching final stages in startup competitions like Venture Lab (IE) or South Summit. He collaborates with the Spanish startup environment as a mentor, panelist and masterclass host at StartupLab (IE), CBRE’s Proptech Challenge and Osmotic.
