Cybersecurity Trial Class: The long shadow on Governance- ShadowIT and ShadowData

Governing the Enteprise IT is instrumental for success.  

Monitoring, detecting, identiying and protecting from threats are at the heart of the things that cybersecurity professionals, risk managers, auditors, compliance directors, infrastructure officers, etc must do.  

But there are dimensions that we do not control well, unfortunately. While Cloud is another chapter of the IT book and provides many benefits, it is also true that brought challenges and issues… just because technology was easy to use… enticing to ‘break the rule’.  

It is critical that we adapt and adopt emerging technologies in this ‘Cloud Generation’. However, we should not forget that Cloud can be used as a negative verb… and that it sometimes provides some shadows. Welcome to the worlds of ShadowIT and ShadowData. Let’s bring some light into these disciplines.  

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Professor Ramsés Gallego 

Ramsés is a +20 year security professional with deep expertise in the Risk Management and Governance areas. He is now Strategist & Evangelist at the Office of the CTO in Symantec, where he defines the vision of the security discipline and evangelizes on its mission and strategy. Before, he was at Dell Security and CA Technologies for 5 and 8 years respectively, he was Regional Manager for SurfControl in Spain and Portugal, and also Chief Strategy Officer of the Security and Risk Management practice at Entelgy. Ramsés served for three years in ISACA’s CISM and CGEIT Certification Committees and also in the the Guidance & Practices Committee for three years from where deliverables are created for the community. Ramsés is a CISM , CGEIT and a CISSP . He is the proud owner of the SCPM from Stanford University, California, one of the first experts with the CCSK and  an ITIL and COBIT Foundations certified professional.
