Technological advancements surrounding this growth of data access and management are shaping our everyday lives and our future. In this talk, we will explore the world of 'Big Data', understanding the meaning behind this buzz word and why it has become so important over the last decade. We will touch on how it is being used in business today, in both small and large corporations, and why businesses are struggling to adopt new analytical ways. We will cover some related technologies along the way and open the floor to questions at the end, so come prepared and curious to learn about a topic that all of us will encounter at one time or another!

Professor Christina Stathopoulos  

Advanced Analytics and Big Data,  IE University, School of Human Sciences & Technology  

Christina is originally from the US and has been based in Madrid, Spain for the last 7 years. She is dedicated to the world of data, working as an Analytical Consultant at Google and an Adjunct Professor of Advanced Analytics and Big Data at IE Business School. Alongside her corporate and academic work, she is a regular conference attendee and speaker supporting women in STEM and emerging technologies.

Christina Stathopoulos is a thought leader in the data world, participating regularly as an international speaker and educator in the field. She has developed an advanced analytics career in tech. Most recently, after more than 5 years at Google and Waze where she led analytical studies and strategy in partnership with some of their largest advertisers, she branched off on her own as a data evangelist to launch her own data firm.
