Leadership in an Era of Political Risk: Europe and the Anti-Globalization Backlash
Join us for a Master class in Athens
The Great Financial Crisis (2007-9) and the Eurozone Debt Crisis (2010- ) marked the end of the Era of Great Moderation (1980s-2017) and ushered in a new turbulent era of economic uncertainty and political risk. Time and again business leaders and entrepreneurs have been caught unawares by watershed political events such as Brexit, the Trump phenomenon, and various parliamentary elections in Europe. This talk aims to drive home the point that firms — may those be export-oriented, import-competing, or service-based — can no longer afford to lose sight of the “big picture” when planning for either the short or the long term. It will shed light on the underlying trends of this “paradigm shift” currently underway and discuss ways to grapple with high levels of uncertainty.
