Elections in 2024 and International Realignment
Masterclass with Dr. Ilke Toygur
We are thrilled to invite you to join us for this one-hour masterclass with Dr. Ilke Toygur from the Centre for Global Policy and Professor of Geopolitics of Europe at IE University.
In 2024, more than 60 countries, including key global players like the EU, the US, India, and South Africa, held elections amidst a series of overlapping global crises—climate change, economic instability, and geopolitical tensions. This masterclass will analyze this “super electoral year” and how domestic concerns such as rising inequality, the cost-of-living crisis, polarisation, and a feeling of insecurity are increasingly shaping foreign policy and international alignment.
In this masterclass, we will take a closer look at the global effects of these elections, and we will explore how domestic pressures are shaping broader international realignments in an interconnected world.
