IE Masterclass in San Juan - The Invisible Architecture of Society: Power, Norms, and Social Control
Join us for an inspiring masterclass!
Who decides what is “normal”? Why do we follow rules we never agreed to and often never even noticed?
Beneath everyday routines, traditions, and institutions lies an invisible architecture shaping how we think, behave, and make choices. Social norms, values, and categories are not neutral or natural; they are constructed, reinforced, and protected by systems of power. Over time, they become so deeply embedded in daily life that questioning them feels unnecessary or even risky.
This master class pulls back the curtain on these hidden structures. Through striking real-world examples and insights from behavioral science, it reveals how invisible rules influence personal decisions, collective behavior, and the policies that govern modern society. The session invites participants to rethink what feels “obvious,” challenge taken-for-granted assumptions, and see society with sharper, more critical eyes. The masterclass will be followed by an interactive discussion and a dedicated opportunity to connect and network, allowing participants to exchange ideas, perspectives, and experiences
