The aim of this masterclass will be to examine the global challenges of the 21st century, how they affect Maghreb and the opportunities that they offer to provide economic, social development and political stability in the region.

In this timely and relevant talk, you will hear from one of the foremost experts on the subject area, Professor Julio Crespo-MacLennan, Adjunct Professor of International Relations and History at IE School of Global and Public Affairs.

Julio Crespo-MacLennan is a historian, international relations scholar and writer. He has published seven books and has lectured in over thirty countries and diverse international forums. He is a frequent contributor to the daily press and some of his articles are published internationally in diverse countries.

His most recent book Europa, how Europe shaped the modern world (Pegasus Books, 2018), a pioneering pan-European history beyond the barriers of the nation-states, was critically acclaimed and was recently published in China.  At present he is working on a history of democracy from antiquity to the 21st century.
