Discover how art, culture, and vision transformed a country
Join us for a special screening and panel conversation on the acclaimed documentary Warhol-Vijande: Pistols, Knives and Crosses, hosted by the IE School of Humanities in collaboration with the Colección Suñol Soler.
The film chronicles the story of pioneering Spanish art dealer Fernando Vijande and his collaboration with the iconic Andy Warhol, culminating in the 1983 Madrid exhibition “Pistols, Knives and Crosses.”
Through a compelling mix of archival footage and firsthand interviews across New York, Pittsburgh, and Madrid, the documentary portrays how Vijande helped place Spain’s emerging contemporary art scene on the international cultural map, bridging the energy of Madrid’s Movida with the pulse of the New York art world.
Narrated by the artist and singer Alaska, the film captures a moment of transformation — of art, identity, and modernity.
Recently featured at the 2025 London Spanish Film Festival and the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest, this screening is followed by a live conversation with the filmmakers and experts.
