Circular Design: Closing the Loop in Interior Spaces

How can interior design lead the way toward a more regenerative and sustainable future?

This session explores how the core principles of circular design—such as minimizing waste, extending material lifecycles, and maximizing resource efficiency—can be meaningfully applied to interior environments.

Designers Gemma Ruse, Founder and Creative Director of StudioXAG, and Andreu Carulla,  Founder and Chief Designer at Andreu / Carulla Studio and ACID, will delve into how circularity can be embedded throughout the design process, from material selection and production methods to end-of-life strategies that promote reuse and recycling. The conversation will also examine the intersection of circular design with emerging economic models in real estate and interior architecture, highlighting the growing role of designers in driving systemic change within the built environment. This conversation is part of a curated series moderated by Robert Thiemann, bringing together leading voices at the intersection of design, innovation, and sustainability.
