Michael will give us a glimpse of the most recent developments in the automotive industry, focusing on electric and self-driving cars. In particular, he will touch upon:  

• Volume and share of electric cars sales in the world; 

•  Car manufacturers’ plans to switch production to electric cars, including initiatives to create specialized platforms; 

• Policies and regulations around the use of conventional vehicles in Europe and the USA;  

• Technological difficulties & regulatory map of self-driving vehicles; 

• Scenarios of the development of the self-driving vehicles segment.

Michael Bakunin is heading Mobility Services Partnerships for the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance with Silicon Valley based partners. His objective is to support the Alliance’s strategy of becoming an early provider of driverless vehicles and services, building on the exclusive relationship with Waymo, the Alphabet’s company. Prior to Michael’s assignment in the Silicon Valley office he has been involved in a number of projects related to electric vehicles and e-mobility at Nissan in Europe and Japan. Back in Russia, his home country, Michael served in senior management roles in telecom and telecom retail. Michael holds a PhD degree in economics from Kazan State University in Russia and an MBA degree from IE Business School in Spain, Madrid.
