IE Talks in Edinburgh: The New Era of Scaleup Entrepreneurship

What is the next step once you have established your place in the market? To move your company into sustainable economic growth, entrepreneurship education should focus on the maturing journey of "scaling". Entrepreneurs and founders are ultimately successful not because they started, but because of how they scaled.

Any organisation that is undergoing rapid growth can be described as a scale-up. Many businesses have learnt the hard way that what worked for their start-up did not work for a scale-up. Scaling up is no longer just about numbers and speed, but about sustaining a growth mindset, alongside important decisions in areas such as scale, product, process, people, and resources.

Join Professor Joe Haslam, a serial entrepreneur, as he explains the current entrepreneurship landscape of moving towards scaling-up. This masterclass will highlight the fundamental differences between running a start-up vs a scale-up, common pitfalls such as premature scaling, the importance of operations and more.
