Agenda

18.00-18.20 Welcome word about IE University by IE University representative

18.20 – 19.30 Geopolitics, Chip Wars and the Future of AI, by Milo Jones

In this talk Milo will describe not just the origins of the current "Chip War" between the US and China, but he will also use historical analogies to peer into how AI might develop in the future.  What are the technical, organizational, commercial and organizational challenges posed by this new technology?  Are they really unprecedented, or have we lived through analogous changes?"

Dr MILO JONES has been teaching at IE since 2009.  He also a Visiting Research Fellow at the Changing Character of War Centre, Pembroke College, Oxford and a Senior Adviser for Geopolitics and Technology at Arcano Partners in Madrid.  At IE, Milo teaches “Intelligence Tools for Businesspeople” and "Geopolitics for Businesspeople" in the MBA and Masters in Finance Programmes.

Milo's MOOC, "Intelligence Tools for the Digital Age", is available on Coursera.   In 2013, Stanford University Press published his book Constructing Cassandra: Reframing Intelligence Failure at the CIA, 1947-2001, which is based on Milo’s 2009 PhD dissertation. In the past, Milo worked as a Senior Manager for Accenture in London and as a stockbroker at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in New York. He also served as an officer in the US Marine Corps and is a graduate from the US Army’s Airborne School. A native of Manhattan, Milo now lives in Warsaw.
