IE University School Debate Challenge 2022

Debate is based on the idea of engaging our true opinions outside from our regular discussions. This can only be achieved by clashing them with the ones who differ from us, but also, by understanding that there are many points of view on a same subject. In Debate, we learn about public speaking, argumentation, refutation, persuasion, rhetoric, analysis, and much more. We learn how to defend our ideas and how to communicate properly and effectively.

This event comes in a year where preparation for International Debates is essential in Spain, due to the upcoming celebration of the World Universities Debating Championships 2023 which has been placed in the hands of the City of Madrid.

For this IEU School Debate Challenge edition, we will work under the format of WUDC where you will have four teams for each debate, two in favor of a topic and two others against it. However, the approach we give is unique; we want the students to be part of an unforgettable experience were they can not only better their skills and learn new ones, but also interact exercising their minds at our University.

From IE University we have been promoting debate as a fundamental skill for developing critical thinking in our alumni. As one of our main objectives is to enhance the advocacy towards creating better citizens, we truly believe this will be an unforgettable experience for the youth and for their outstanding future.

High School students who will start their university in 2023 or 2024.
