Women In Top-Management Positions In Germany: Why is it so difficult and what could be done to improve the situation

In the 160 public listed companies in Germany only 10% of the members of the executive boards are women. In other words, 90% are men. Why is it like this and how does Germany stand in an international comparison? Many studies are showing that diversity in top management brings profit and innovations, but still many companies keep on having all-male boards. What could be the necessary steps to change? What could the state, the companies and each individual do to speed up the process?

IE University is organizing this Master Class in collaboration with the AllBright Foundation who will be sharing their study findings and best practices on how organisations can become more divers. Diversity is also one of IE University’s core values, and many of the initiatives led by IE aim to support and empower women and promote gender equality in business.

Speaker

Christian Berg is CEO of the AllBright Foundation in Berlin. Together with Wiebke Ankersen he started the German part of the AllBright Foundation in 2016 and they are since then leading AllBright in Germany. AllBright was originally founded by the Swedish Businessman Sven Hagströmer in Stockholm in 2011 and by Mr Hagströmer in Berlin in 2016.

After Christian Berg’s insights we will have two IE female Alumni, Oula Akik (Head of Product & Design at TWAGO) and Daniela Mertens (Chief People Officer at PassportCard), joining in for a panel discussion and sharing their experiences as women in their industries.
