IE Tourism Venture Day
Join us on May 26th for the IE Tourism Venture Day. A Startup competition designed to showcase the best startups in the tourism sector.
Early this year, Madrid was home to the 113th Executive Council of the UNWTO. One of the key decisions discussed during this event was the need of rethinking tourism worldwide with a focus on green investments, while measuring the impact of covid-19. 3
The UNWTO Confidence Index continues at record lows. Most UNWTO Panel Experts expect a rebound in international tourism by the third quarter of 2021 and a return to pre-pandemic 2019 levels not before 2023. Experts consider travel restrictions as the main barrier weighing on the recovery of international tourism, along with slow virus containment and low consumer confidence. On the positive side, there are important signs of significant pent-up demand which is reflected in the surge of bookings when conditions allow for it as well as in the growth of the domestic markets. 4
So, what can be done to reactivate tourism? Facing such a complex issue requires a multifaceted approach, and a dialogue that involves both public and private stakeholders. But most of all, we need ideas. So join us for the IE Venture Day Europe on Tourism on May 26th. This would be a great opportunity to learn from industry experts what the sector will look like in the upcoming months and find creative solutions that will boost tourism.
